Overview

Terrecrude rug collection designed by our duo creativo Barbieri Magalini for Matteo Pala has been showcased at Lake Como Design Festival 2024, hosted by the beautiful space curated by Calle dei Cavalli Gallery. The installation, part of the “Lightness in Progress” exhibition developed around the theme of lightness, featured a selection of 14 pieces, including those by Barbieri Magalini, cara\davide, Francesco Maria Messina, and Vincent Mazenauer.

Terrecrude collection, designed by Barbieri Magalini for Matteo Pala Tappeti, is a collection of hand-tufted rugs inspired by four earthy textures: terracotta, clay, sand, and lava. Each earth tone, depicted in monochrome, is encapsulated within an irregular organic shape, conceived through the interaction between the earth itself and the surrounding natural environment. The texture is achieved through a blend of materials such as wool, silk and bamboo. Available in two standard sizes from the catalog, this collection can also be customized to suit furnishings or architectural features that conceptually represent the natural environment around which the earth molds its form.

We thank Calle Dei Cavalli, a Zurich-based gallery founded by Gioia Zamburlin and Enrico Bianchettin.
